Growing up in New Jersey, Joan Orlando, M.D. attended the New Jersey College of Medicine where she began her medical training. Following the completion of her M.D. degree, she took part in a one-year internship at Jersey City Medical Center. In 1964 she began her residency at the same medical center and eventually moved to Chicago in order to complete her residency at Northwestern University. Dr. Orlando continued at Northwestern completing two years of fellowship in Clinical Cardiology.

After completing her Specialist training, she served as an attending physician at the University of Chicago, Illinois until 1972, when she moved to California and began working at Martin Luther King Jr. General Hospital in Los Angeles, Long Beach Veterans Hospital, and eventually Beverly Hospital in Montebello, where she continues to practice. She joined Comprehensive Cardiovascular Specialists (CCS) in 2004.

Dr. Orlando is well known locally for her dedication and commitment to patient care. She has been known to work tirelessly and consistently throughout her career, in caring for her patients. She is well regarded as an outstanding clinician with exceptional compassion.
