Dr. Oana M. Penciu is a non-invasive cardiologist specializing in clinical cardiology and imaging modalities. She has a special interest in heart failure, cardiovascular diseases in women and echocardiography. She also manages the care of patients with valvular heart disease, arrhythmias, coronary artery disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and peripheral vascular disease.

Dr. Penciu was born and raised in Romania, and after obtaining her MD and PhD degrees from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hatieganu” in Cluj-Napoca, she moved to the United States, with her husband to pursue further training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency as well as a year of Chief Residency in Connecticut at Danbury Hospital, institution affiliated with Yale University. She stayed on for a Fellowship in Cardiovascular Diseases.

While in training, she designed, conducted and published several research projects, especially focused on congestive heart failure. As Chief Resident and Chief Fellow, Dr Penciu was actively involved in teaching medical students, residents and cardiology fellows. She has a passion for teaching not only the next generation of physicians, but also her patients and their families.

Dr Penciu and her husband, who is a psychiatrist in the Glendale area, moved to the Los Angeles area in 2017, to be closer to their family. She enjoys spending her free time with her husband and twin children, traveling, exploring the outdoors, reading and cooking for their friends and family.
